San Jose State University
BIOROB Lab - Industrial and Mechatronics Engineering Research Internship
May 2023 - September 2024
Selected to work in a team of 12, consisting mainly of graduate and master’s students. We were led by SJSU Professor Lin Jiang. Initially learned how to use tools for this research project, mainly MATLAB Simulink and AUBO Robotics, which were needed for robot design, simulation, and testing. Used three different autonomous robots with 5, 7, and 8 degrees of freedom to help simulate medical procedures. We worked with engineers from Intuitive Surgical to learn from ‘Da Vinci Robotic Surgical Systems’.
Specifically, I helped simulate remote surgery through a 7-degree movement arm on MATLAB Simulink. This could be relyed into the real-world with the robotic arm we had. I tested and analyzed the efficiency of this, allowing me to get familiar with Python and mechatronics. Our final project was to prove the potential of simulation robotics in the fields of our growing world.
